Please don't look at my last post date...it was over a month ago! I had to take some time off. I don't do well when I have a lot of my plate. I'm not a good multi-tasker. This last month of school has just been crazy! It all comes to an end this Friday...summer vacation. I am one happy mama!
One more thing that makes me happy? REDNESDAY!
A big thank you to our hostess Sue at Sue Loves Cherries. It's a great way to get to know other bloggers!
I have lots of Christmas to share today. I always gravitate towards holiday decor. I struggle collecting everyday items, but the holidays? I'm always in the mood to buy! I bought all these items at an auction last month.
My favorite? Well, I LOVE these Josef Originals elves. I should have taken a photo of the labels. They all have their original labels. I have only the basic knowledge of Christmas collectibles. I've never heard of Josef Originals. They are made in Japan...that's always a good sign.
In the same box as the elves came this squeeky toy, marked Ninchira? Japan. He looks good. I thought about selling him...now I'm not so sure.
Again, in the same box, Noel Angel candleholders. Only marked Japan. OK, I'm fairly certain I won't keep these...I have to recoup my costs and part with something!
Not bad for one box, huh? I bought two other box lots with some Christmas.
Some plain Shiney Brites. I only paid a buck, so why wouldn't I buy them? The basket was an unintentional score. I didn't even notice it until I got home. I decided it will be awesome for gathering veggies from the garden!
OK, I know this last item isn't red, but I bought it on the same day and it fits my Christmas theme. It's my wild card item. When I won the bid for $1 and took the Shiney Brites, I decided to take a chance on this for $1. A revolving Christmas tree stand. It was so dusty. I thought I was throwing my buck out the window...no way it was going to work. Well, you guessed it...it DOES work! It has three settings: revolving, playing music and revolving and playing music! Super Duper Score! This might be better than the elves! I can't decide...they both make me smile a lot!
Well then.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteLove all your vintage red decorations. I agree about the basket being an extra bonus.

Ohhh, I have been looking for vintage Christmas decoration for ages without any good luck.... and I love that tree stand. Lucky Girl.... happy rednesday.
ReplyDeleteHi Shelley~You are not going to believe this but today I purchased three of the squeeky santa's at at a thrift store for .25 cents each. There was probably 15 in a box and I thought three would be a good number...wonder if I should go back tomorrow and purchase the rest!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your Christmas treasures.
Fondly,

Shelley, so glad you're back! I know what you mean - sometimes I feel overwhelmed and confused as to what to put on the back burner for a while.
ReplyDeleteGreat lot of items! Josef Originals are a popular name among Christmas collectibles. The angels are very pretty, too! Do you sell on eBay or Etsy or what?
I love the elves and all your Christmas stuff. Kinda getting me in the mood.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun Christmas decorations. I still have my santa timer in my kitchen. Can't bring myself to put him away until next Christmas!

Love your elves!
ReplyDeleteI got such a chuckle out of your musical tree stand, so much fun! I can remember my best friend having a white tree that rotated but no music that I can recall. SCORE! :)
Happy Rednesday,
Sally
Ok Shelley, that' it. I'm coming to Iowa and going to some auctions with you! Hope you have a guest room! I can't believe you got all of that in one box. And Shiny Brites for $1!! The icing on the cake is definitely that tree stand. That will be so much fun at Christmastime! Just a few more days 'til Friday, and then your summer can officially begin. Yahoo!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy REDnesday!

It is always Christmas. I may hesitate on a purchase, but not when it is an ornament, vintage to be sure. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteChristmas collectibles are always fun to see...you found some wonderful ones....blessings
ReplyDeleteI love your little pixies from the sixties!
ReplyDeleteI am like you, *always* in the mood to buy too! I don't think I've ever been to a thrift store, auction or yard sale where I didn't buy *something*! Love your reds!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jo
I could buy Christmas stuff year round too. You got some really fun stuff. I'm a sucker for Shiny Brite ornaments. I found some a couple of weeks back at a garage sale for $1.00...all pink.

Wow, lovely Christmas auction items! I love the tree stand, how great that it actually works! Thank you for visiting and leaving your kind comment on my "Strolling along Memory Lane..."REDNESDAY"! I couldn't believe my eyes when I found this wicker carriage with the "RED" and white gingham hood and "RED" wheels. I just started thrifting a few weeks ago after ready how many bloggers thrift. Our SA and GW stores are really clean and neat, otherwise I wouldn't be able to shop their either, it's a shame your stores aren't as nice. I'm still not intersted in tag sales yet, we shall see...
ReplyDeleteHugz,
Kim
Love the Josef pixies....they should have some value. Josef may be best know for little girl figurines that are designed and decorated for every month of the year. They were popular birthday gifts in 60s. You did good, I'd say! Thanks for visiting me today. I certainly enjoyed my visit here.
ReplyDeleteI was excited to see your post! You know I love that Christmas. I think I sold a tree stand like that on eBay a few years ago - somebody loved it enough to pay a lot to have it shipped across the country. Thanks for the e-mail - one shooting your way soon!
